My take on it is we have to think of our body as our boss (our real boss) and our ‘job’ is to keep moving. It doesn’t matter what we do, whether it is walking, running, biking, fitness class, tennis – but whatever it is, it is important to find something you really enjoy doing, something that is fun. That’s why I do Nia. But Nia is based on ‘stances’ from the Martial Arts, and in terms of movement it is really just walking. Walking in a pattern to be sure (forward, back, side, side,) and that’s what makes it so fun and effective.
